Parminder Singh, alias Pindi, a notorious terrorist affiliated with Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), has been extradited from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to India as of Saturday. This operation comes amid heightened efforts to combat terrorism in the region.
Pindi’s extradition marks a significant success for Punjab Police and central agencies, who worked collaboratively to bring him back. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav confirmed that Pindi was involved in a series of violent crimes, including petrol bomb attacks and extortion.
Pindi, a close associate of terrorists Harwinder Singh alias Rinda and Happy Passia, has been linked to various violent incidents, particularly in Batala, Gurdaspur. The Punjab Police are committed to ensuring that all individuals who engage in terror activities face justice.
The successful extradition unfolded after the Batala police issued a red corner notice (RCN) against Pindi. Yadav revealed that a dedicated team, led by a senior officer, travelled to the UAE on September 24. They coordinated with the Ministry of External Affairs and local UAE authorities to complete the necessary legal formalities.
Yadav emphasized the importance of this operation, stating, The extradition of Parminder Pindi underscores our commitment to combat terrorism. It showcases India’s reliance on international cooperation in law enforcement.
Pindi’s return to India comes amidst rising concerns over the activities of BKI and other terrorist outfits based outside the country. The Indian government remains resolute in its efforts to counter terrorism.
Punjab Police continues to ramp up its strategies to address these threats, working closely with national and international organizations. As the situation evolves, residents in Punjab can feel a renewed sense of safety.
Experts say that successful extraditions such as this help deter potential criminals from seeking refuge abroad, sending a strong message that justice will prevail.
The apprehension of such individuals not only aids in community safety but also strengthens the judicial system, reinforcing the rule of law in India.
As investigations continue, authorities expect to uncover further details regarding Pindi’s involvement in organized crime and terrorism, paving the way for more arrests.
