CBK Conducts House Searches in Srinagar and Budgam Districts

The Special Crime Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir has conducted house searches in five locations across central Kashmir’s Srinagar and Budgam districts. This operation, aimed at investigating a significant cheating case, commenced on Saturday, officials confirmed.

According to an official spokesperson of the Crime Branch Kashmir, the searches target the locations linked to a case registered at the Police Station Special Crime Wing, Srinagar. This case deals with the allegations of cheating involving the sale of land.

The allegations stem from a complaint wherein the complainant reported being defrauded while purchasing land. The complainant received what were believed to be legitimate land documents and, as a result, paid a substantial sum that reportedly reached lakhs of rupees.

However, investigations revealed that the land in question did not actually belong to the sellers. This crucial detail became evident during preliminary enquiries, indicating that the complainant had fallen victim to a fraudulent scheme.

“House Searches are underway, and further investigation is in progress,” stated the official spokesperson, emphasizing the Crime Branch’s commitment to resolving the case expediently.

The Crime Branch Kashmir continues to urge the public to remain vigilant against such fraudulent practices. Instances of land fraud have implications not only for individuals but also for the trust and economic stability within the region.

As cases of cheating and fraud become increasingly prevalent, the Crime Branch emphasizes its proactive stance towards maintaining law and order in Jammu and Kashmir. The ongoing investigation serves as a reminder of the importance of due diligence when engaging in financial transactions, particularly in real estate.
