Political Islam Undermined Hindu Faith, Claims Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath argued that history often overlooks the impact of political Islam on Hindu faith while focusing extensively on colonialism. Speaking at an event in Gorakhpur on Tuesday, Adityanath claimed that this form of governance inflicted one of the most significant blows to Sanatan Dharma.

At the ‘Vichar-Parivar Kutumb Sneh Milan’ and ‘Deepotsav Se Rashtrotsav’ programmes, which celebrated the centenary year of the RSS, he pointed to historical figures like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Guru Gobind Singh, and Maharana Pratap. These warriors fought valiantly against what he termed “political Islam” during India’s turbulent times.

“Our ancestors waged major struggles against political Islam, yet this aspect of history remains largely overlooked,” Adityanath said, emphasizing the importance of recognizing all dimensions of India’s past.

He praised the RSS for its crucial role in building the Ram temple in Ayodhya, framing the temple as a symbol of unwavering faith amidst adversity. The chief minister highlighted that discussions on colonial resistance often neglect ideological challenges posed by political Islam.

“We hear discussions about British and French colonialism, but the narrative ignores political Islam, which has been detrimental to our faith,” he stated, reiterating that the struggles of heroes like Veer Shivaji and Maharana Pratap are pivotal in this discourse.

Adityanath also reflected on the sacrifices made by RSS volunteers over the past 100 years. He noted that while other political formations, including the Samajwadi Party, Congress, and the INDIA bloc, questioned the Ram temple’s legitimacy, RSS supporters remained resolute in their commitment.

“The Sangh endured restrictions, faced lathi-charges and bullets. Today, the magnificent Ram temple stands as a testament to their unwavering commitment,” he asserted, invoking a sense of pride among the attendees.

The chief minister underscored ongoing concerns, alleging that activities promoting political Islam continue under various guises. He pointed to the recent ban on the sale of Halal-certified products in Uttar Pradesh, claiming these profits contribute to activities like conversion, love jihad, and terrorism.

Touching upon the initiatives for the RSS centenary, Adityanath outlined five key aspects aimed at driving community transformation: social harmony, family values, environmental protection, self-reliance through indigenous goods, and heightened civic responsibility. He emphasized these as the foundations for a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).

“For a developed society and a developed nation, society must lead, and the government must follow,” he concluded, appealing for collective progress.
