The Inter Zonal District Level Athletics Competition for All Age Group (AAG) Girls commenced today at the University of Jammu. This vibrant event, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), District Jammu, spotlighted the remarkable talent of young female athletes.
On the opening day, approximately 300 girl athletes from various government and private schools participated with great enthusiasm. Competitors showcased their speed, strength, and sporting spirit across multiple track and field events.
In the fiercely contested discus throw events, the U-19 gold medal went to Sweety Devi from Zone Marh, followed closely by Konika Chib from Zone RS Pura securing silver, and Renu from Zone Bishnah winning bronze. In the U-17 category, Nidhi Verma from Zone Satwari took home the gold, followed by Kiran Kumari from Zone Bhalwal, and Nirjala from Zone Bishnah. The U-14 title went to Subhana from Zone Satwari, with Sonakshi from Zone Miran Sahib and Mansi from Zone Akhnoor rounded out the podium for silver and bronze respectively.
Moving on to the 100m races, Damanpreet from Zone Bishnah clinched the gold medal in the U-14 category. In the U-17 category, Nishta Sharma from Zone Jammu emerged victorious, while Shivani from Zone Jammu bagged gold in the U-19 category.
The focus then shifted to the 400m events, where Sahiba Choudhary from Zone Dansal took first place in the U-14 race. Nishta Sharma‘s performance in the U-17 category also stood out as she claimed victory.
In the fiercely contested 300m race, Mehak from Zone Jammu claimed gold in the U-19 category, with Sonia Choudhary from Zone Dansal winning in U-17.
The high jump events showcased exceptional talent, with Shriya Bhagat from Zone Chowki Choura winning gold in the U-14 category. Similarly, Rohika Devi and Payal Kumari, also from Zone Chowki Choura, secured gold in the U-17 and U-19 categories respectively.
Senior officials from DYSSO Jammu, including Nirmal Singh, Chamel Singh, Sarabjeet Singh, Vijay Sharma, and Harsimran Singh, were present to award medals to the top performers. They congratulated the winners and encouraged all participants to embody the ideals of dedication, discipline, team spirit, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
