Srinagar Police made significant strides in drug enforcement by attaching property valued at ₹1.20 crore belonging to notorious drug peddler Nisar Ahmad Sheikh. This action is part of the ongoing 100 Days Campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, aimed at eradicating drug-related issues within the region.
On Tuesday, March 12, the Muktsar District Police executed the attachment under the legal framework of Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. This operation is rooted in FIR No. 61/2019, which details Sections 8 and 20 of the NDPS Act concerning drug trafficking and possession.
The seized assets include a fully renovated three-storey residential house, a separate single-storey concrete kitchen block equipped with three modern washrooms, and an expanse of land measuring 09 marlas. Investigators established that Sheikh acquired this substantial property through illicit drug sale proceeds.
Authorities, including the Srinagar Police, confirmed their rigorous approach in dismantling the financial infrastructure of drug trafficking networks. This decisive attachment of assets marks a significant step in curtailing narcotics in the valley.
This operation coincides with extensive efforts by law enforcement statewide to intensify actions against drug peddlers. The police’s resolve to combat the drug menace stems from rising public concern regarding substance abuse in the region, especially among youth.
Officials continued to emphasize the necessity for community involvement in these efforts, urging citizens to share information related to drug trafficking and abuse. Such collaboration plays a crucial role in fostering safer environments for all.
As part of the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir initiative, the police plan to ramp up awareness campaigns alongside punitive measures against prominent drug traffickers. The Srinagar Police’s actions not only reflect their commitment to this fight but also aim to inspire other districts to take a stand against drugs.
Furthermore, police confirmed that comprehensive investigations are underway to trace other assets linked to drug-related crimes. They remain steadfast in their mission to disrupt the operations of drug cartels and secure a safer Jammu & Kashmir.
