Anti-Terrorist Operation in J&K’s Kishtwar: War-Like Stores Found

Ongoing Anti-Terrorist Operations in J&K

An anti-terrorist operation is currently underway in Jammu and Kashmir’s (J&K) Kishtwar district. This operation aims to combat the rising threats posed by terrorism in the region while also uncovering illegal arms and ammunition. The operation, which started on September 19, has yielded important findings in both Kishtwar and Poonch districts.

What Happened During the Operation?

On Saturday, the Nagrota headquartered White Knight Corps of the Indian Army reported that soldiers engaged in fierce combat with suspected terrorists. Just around 8 PM on September 19, 2025, troops established contact during an intelligence-based operation. Initial exchanges of fire took place, marking the intensity and urgency of the operation.

According to the official account on the White Knight Corps’ social media platform, “Contact with Terrorists. Exchange of fire took place. Operations are currently in progress.” This statement underscores the seriousness of their mission and the ongoing efforts to neutralize threats.

War-Like Stores Recovered in Poonch

In a separate but related effort, Indian Army forces and local Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) successfully recovered an array of war-like stores during a joint operation in Poonch district. The recovered items included one AK series weapon, four AK magazines, and twenty hand grenades, among other supplies.

The White Knight Corps stated, “#JointOperation | Recovery of War-Like Stores. Search operation in progress.” This highlights their relentless drive to dismantle terrorist operations by targeting their armaments.

Addressing the Entire Ecosystem of Terror

The ongoing operations are not limited to direct encounters with terrorists. The joint forces have widened their efforts to also include actions against over ground workers (OGWs) and sympathizers. Drug smugglers and peddlers are under heightened scrutiny as intelligence agencies suggest that money from drug trafficking may fuel terrorist activities in the region.

This joint strategy aims to dismantle the entire support ecosystem related to terror in J&K by severing financial and logistical support channels. The approach reflects a comprehensive method to combat various interconnected criminal operations within the region.

Geographical Importance and Strategic Measures

Jammu and Kashmir’s geographical landscape also plays a vital role in these operations. With a significant international border of 240 kilometers across Jammu, Kathua, and Samba districts, as well as a 740-km-long Line of Control (LoC) in Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora, securing these areas is crucial.

The Border Security Force (BSF) manages the international border while the Indian Army monitors the LoC. These strategic positions help bolster defense and provide necessary oversight amidst ongoing tensions.

Conclusion: Ongoing Commitment to Security

As these operations unfold in Kishtwar and Poonch, it is evident that the Indian Army and local security forces remain committed to enhancing the safety and security of citizens in Jammu and Kashmir. Their approach to tackling terrorism goes beyond mere encounters; it involves disrupting the entire network that supports extremist activities in the region.

With each recovered weapon and detained terrorist, the hope for a safer future in J&K becomes more tangible. The local population looks on with hope as law enforcement agencies press on with their important work to restore peace.
