AI-Powered Systems Enhance Access to Eye Care: LG Sinha

Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha inaugurated the new Centre of Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital today in Qamarwari, Srinagar. He urged the hospital and medical professionals to ensure accessible and affordable healthcare, particularly for patients in rural and remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Lieutenant Governor highlighted the transformative impact of modern technologies, stating, “Over the past decade, modern technologies have fundamentally transformed the eye care field, offering faster and more accurate diagnoses with precise treatments. The new technologies have also increased access to care in the health sector and personalized treatment.”

Shri Sinha emphasized the significance of AI-powered systems in the early detection of diseases and eye problems. He urged Dr. Agarwals Eye Centre and other healthcare facilities to leverage these advancements, ensuring that the quality of treatment available in metropolitan areas like Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai is accessible to the people of J&K.

The Lieutenant Governor also applauded the remarkable changes in Jammu and Kashmir’s healthcare sector over the years. He said, “Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, we are ensuring that every citizen has access to quality healthcare. The rapid expansion of both Government and Private healthcare infrastructure has ensured a healthy and prosperous future for every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir.”

In line with his vision for improved healthcare access, Shri Sinha called upon Dr. Agarwals Eye Centre and other hospitals to organize free eye check-up camps across the region, especially in rural and border areas. He advocated for using telemedicine, virtual consultations, and digital examinations to enhance healthcare delivery.

Dr. Ashar Agarwal, Chief Business Officer of Dr Agarwals Group of Eye Hospitals, expressed support for the Lieutenant Governor’s views on technology and accessibility. He said, “We are committed to offering cutting-edge technology and treatment options to our patients, making healthcare more accessible to everyone.”

Key attendees at the inauguration included Dr. Atif Ali Mir, Head of Clinical Services at Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital; Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Secretary of the Science & Technology department; and Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary of Health and Medical Education. Other officials, including Shri Anshul Garg, Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, participated in this significant event.
