Kupwara Officials Support Training Visit to Sheep Breeding Farm

Kupwara, September 22: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Suse (IAS), today flagged off a group of beneficiaries from the DC Office Complex Kupwara for an exposure-cum-training visit to the Government Sheep Breeding Farm in Poshnar, Rajwar Kupwara. This initiative, organized by the Department of Sheep Husbandry under the SEWA PARV program, aims to enhance sheep rearing practices.

During the event, DC Suse highlighted the department’s commitment to empowering local breeders. He assured the participants of the administration’s full support in adopting modern methods of sheep rearing. Suse remarked that livestock has immense potential for generating livelihoods and enhancing income, particularly in rural regions.

Dr. Ishrat, the District Sheep Husbandry Officer, provided insight into the goals of the exposure programme. He explained that it aims to equip beneficiaries with hands-on training and practical demonstrations on scientific sheep rearing, flock management, breeding practices, and animal health care. Such initiatives, he noted, facilitate the adoption of improved management practices, boost productivity, and promote better animal welfare.

The exposure visit features technical experts from the department conducting interactive sessions. These sessions enable beneficiaries to acquire first-hand knowledge of modern techniques that promise higher returns and sustainable growth in sheep husbandry. The demonstrations will showcase innovative practices that can be easily replicated at the grassroots level to generate more impactful outcomes.

This initiative underscores the department’s sustained commitment to uplifting the socio-economic conditions of sheep rearers in the Kupwara district. It seeks to promote self-reliance through livestock-based entrepreneurship and ultimately contribute to strengthening the rural economy of Kupwara.
