On Sunday (August 24), the 43-year-old superstar uploaded a new post where she mostly wrote about food and the simple joy of eating. But in between those lines, Britney also revealed a heartbreaking truth.
In her caption, she reflected on the time when they did not allow her to see or even talk to her two sons for three years.
Britney Spears admitted that those were the hardest years of her life and, in that struggle, her marriage with Sam Asghari felt like a kind of shield.
“We’re just people so fragile and human,” Britney wrote. “The hardest years of my life were my two sons gone for those 3 years… I was cut off from calling or texting and I remember in shock my secret to survival was denial and a lot of tears. It’s weird me and Sam were married. But it almost felt like a fake distraction to help me deal with it.”
Her post then took a different turn, towards food. Britney described how she now feels hungry again, in a way that almost feels childlike.
“I’m so hungry it hurts and when I eat it’s like it’s my first time ever eating in my life,” she shared. She also added that she thanks God for food and the healing it brings her.
The pop star’s marriage to Sam Asghari began in June 2022. It was a glamorous ceremony that made headlines around the world. However, things soon fell apart, and by August 2023, Sam had filed for divorce. Their split finalized in May 2024.
Earlier this year, Sam himself spoke about their relationship, saying that despite the challenges, his priority was always protecting Britney.
