Farooq Abdullah: Op Sindoor Effective, But War Brings Misery

The president of the National Conference, Farooq Abdullah, spoke candidly on Wednesday regarding Operation Sindoor, stating it has delivered positive results but underscored that wars ultimately lead to misery rather than solutions.

Abdullah expressed concern over ongoing global conflicts, invoking the dire situations in Ukraine and the Middle East. Asserting that wars yield nothing but destruction, he remarked, “Look at the situation in Ukraine and the destruction there; it will take Qatar a year or two to restore gas supplies.”

When addressing questions about the Gulf situation, Abdullah insisted that the world remains unprepared for war, particularly given the current economic climate affecting countries worldwide. “The economic conditions of every country are already bad, and no country wants war,” he said.

He added that the Middle East, rich in oil and gas, is critical to global stability. Abdullah warned, “If pressure continues, then the situation in the world will be so bad that it will be difficult to survive.”

In light of the recent assembly election results, Abdullah commented, “I see the results like everyone else.” He referenced the contentious reactions in West Bengal, citing Mamata Banerjee’s claims of rigging, while acknowledging significant changes in other states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Discussing the impact of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls on the elections, Abdullah acknowledged its influence. He stressed that the opposition INDIA bloc remains robust and united.

In the context of recent blasts in Punjab, the seasoned politician said such incidents are not new in India and urged calm among citizens. “You should not panic,” he reassured reporters, pointing out that safety measures continue to be a priority.

When faced with criticisms from opposition parties targeting the National Conference government in Jammu and Kashmir, Abdullah provided a resolute response. “Let them say what they want. Our party is working the way it has to, and we will continue to do so.”

As a prominent leader, Abdullah’s insights into current geopolitical dynamics and domestic politics underscore the need for dialogue over conflict, advocating for peace as an essential path forward.
