The event saw dignitaries and media professionals gather for the inauguration, led by Dr. Tahir Rufayee, Chairman of NFJM. He emphasized the Centre’s importance in promoting fair reporting and informed public participation. “This Press & Media Centre will serve as a hub for fair reporting, informed public engagement, and responsible journalism. NFJM is committed to strengthening democratic values through truthful and ethical media practices,” Dr. Rufayee stated during his speech.
The new Centre offers key facilities for news reporting and publications, press conferences, media briefings, research and analysis, and public engagements. This multifaceted approach provides a comprehensive platform for journalists and media practitioners to collaborate.
Established under the guidance of S.Harjeet Singh, the Centre represents a significant step towards enhancing media standards in Jammu. It aims to cultivate a professional environment where transparency, accountability, and ethical journalism can flourish.
Journalists across Jammu expressed optimism about the launch. They believe this Centre will not only provide necessary tools and resources for effective journalism but also reinforce the media’s role in a democratic society. The prevailing sentiment among media professionals is that this initiative could bridge the gap between media and the public, leading to a more informed citizenry.
The NFJM Centre stands as a beacon for aspiring journalists, established to counteract the challenges faced by media in today’s rapidly evolving landscape. The focus on ethical practices and democratic values resonates throughout the mission of NFJM, ensuring the organisation remains a pivotal force in media reform.
In today’s digital age, responsible journalism has never been more crucial. Initiatives like the NFJM Press & Media Centre underscore the need for credible information and thoughtful discourse. As the media continues to navigate complex challenges, supportive platforms such as this are vital to fostering a healthy, informed public sphere.
Local residents and media stakeholders praised this launch, viewing it as a positive development. Many highlighted previous struggles with access to resources and training in media practices. The Centre is poised to address these needs effectively.
Looking ahead, the NFJM Press & Media Centre aims to organize regular workshops, seminars, and training programs. These activities will empower journalists with skills necessary for navigating the modern media landscape and meeting the demands of a discerning audience. This proactive approach seeks to improve the overall quality of journalism in Jammu.
This launch marks a hopeful chapter for journalism in the region, advocating for quality reporting that upholds ethical standards and serves the public interest.
