Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sunil Sharma criticized Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday for evading governance responsibilities during a press briefing. Sharma accused Abdullah of creating narratives that suggest he is actively handling transfers and significant issues but failing to deliver substantive results.
Sharma pointedly remarked, “He always claims he has no powers when it’s time to act. These are the words of failed leaders who demonstrate little concern for the poor.” Addressing the critical need for development, he emphasized that the competition in today’s political landscape revolves around genuine progress, not empty excuses.
The BJP leader elaborated on the responsibility of the Jammu & Kashmir government in the context of urgent development and effective governance. He underscored the expectations of citizens awaiting action rather than narratives that mask inaction. “Now, the competition is about real development, not excuses,” he added decisively.
Sharma also highlighted the government’s commitment to flood relief efforts stating, “The Government of India will provide compensation to the flood victims, and this is currently under review.” This statement reflects the BJP’s proactive stance on relief measures and its dedication to ensuring that those severely impacted receive adequate support.
He concluded his statements by assuring the public, “We stand committed to our promises and will ensure that relief reaches those affected.” This assertion illustrates the BJP’s strategy to position itself as an accountable alternative in Jammu and Kashmir politics, especially in the wake of natural disasters.
