A senior officer from the Border Security Force (BSF) has confirmed that terrorists are currently stationed at launch pads near the Line of Control (LoC), awaiting opportunities to infiltrate the Kashmir valley. This statement comes as security forces enhance vigilance to thwart any potential infiltration attempts.
On Saturday, Inspector General (IG) Ashok Yadav from the BSF Kashmir Frontier addressed reporters, emphasizing the need for heightened security as the winter season approaches. He stated, “Increased infiltration attempts typically occur before snowfall, with around two months left until winter sets in. Terrorists aim to breach the barrier during this time as their chances significantly diminish in the coming months.”
Yadav highlighted the critical period up to November, when terrorists seek to exploit any lapse in security. He pointed out that these infiltrators have a limited window before winter conditions restrict their movements further.
“Terrorists are waiting at the launch pads across the LoC in our area of responsibility, particularly in the Bandipora and Kupwara sectors,” Yadav noted. They often plan their attempts during adverse weather conditions, hoping to capitalize on any lapses in vigilance.
Despite these threats, the IG reassured the public, stating, “The security is very tight. We are fully prepared to respond to any attempt at infiltration.” He reinforced the commitment of the forces, emphasizing their readiness to confront emerging challenges.
The prepared response of the BSF and the Indian Army has proven effective this year. Yadav confirmed that the forces successfully foiled two infiltration attempts, showcasing their consistent alertness and strategic presence across the region. “It is increasingly challenging for terrorists to infiltrate into our area due to the high level of alertness and the advanced surveillance technologies we employ,” he declared.
The BSF collaborates closely with the Army to ensure robust surveillance and control over the LoC. Their combined efforts leverage high-tech equipment, enhancing their operational capabilities. As border security remains a top priority, this proactive stance aims to maintain stability in the sensitive Kashmir region.
As the winter months approach, the BSF’s measures will likely intensify, ensuring that security remains tight against the backdrop of continuing threats. Both the BSF and the Indian Army stand resolute, prepared to counter any potential breaches to protect the nation’s integrity.
